Calendat Crossout - collab w/ Johnny Crimson

by Nanette Bellman

Dip your hands back in the sink and shake the lukewarm water towards the mirror.
While the quiet film your actions
you smile for the cameras
and watch the mirror pane
as the beads bypass your reflection
and crack your face instead.

Turn-key is how I want you
bled and primed for the night ahead.
Slide your mouth along the trail
as the lipstick colors my chest, I exhale.

Hansel and gretel your way into the unknown
and don't forget to check your coat at the door.
First class flight into the prayer position
and wait for the wreckage to wash up on shore.

In the quiet I read between your skin
where the specks speak volumes.
Each chapter of flesh engulfs my thought
as the foundation hides your morning face.

Felt inside,
crawled from wall to wall.
They'd fight hard to debug you,
cracked flak jackets and the likes.

Short circuit in your heart,
No need to bite your tongue now
Spit that venom on what's left of the souls
and show them the true meaning behind demoralization.

With your claws out, pounce.
Better off left for dead is still alive, or so they say.

Running your ashes through my fingers
and chewing on the denim of your blue jeans
I can't shake your last words from my memory:

"I'm more afraid of burning alive than drowning, but why do you ask?"
