Beast of Burden (Diamonds in the Ruff)

by James Blaylock

Beast of Burden (Diamonds in the Ruff)

like a diamond in the sun

we sparkle within our skins,

shining as beacons, one to another,

we guide the blind ashore, tirelessly

they'd claim life if it were given freely

but, with little or no strings attached

so, whom shall rise to power

and can they handle the heat...?

just remember there's finer dining;

other than that of their litter boxes

For me this poem symbolizes seeing eye dogs. How far off am I?
