Come Out, Come Out... Whomever You Are!

by James Blaylock

Come Out, Come Out... Whomever You Are!

let's wear our mask again, today,

they're more than cute and trendy

and besides, they hide our withered souls

with their tiny black holes, so consuming

many have, always, done this and shall continue

but what's the use in hiding behind such falseness

when the light shines brightest and the fresh air taste sweetest, right here

someday our skin can know the sun's warmth again, but I praying it's today

I've reckoned that certain precious people feel safest behind masks because of mistreatment received when they were being themselves. To be invited out through a tested trusted other soul is to be invited out of prison, but no one would know this until the days it happens.
I notice you write with much depth. Depth is among my finest companions.
