Escape

by Richard Vince

Did you escape, or are you still
Escaping every Saturday night?
When you see me, do you remember
How life was then?

When you smiled, was it really
You, or just the relief from
The rest of your life?
Do you ever smile now?

You still look the same;
Age has been kinder to you
Than to me. Seven years has
Been a long time for me,
But timeless for you.

I hope your look is one of
Satisfaction, not resignation.
I hope life has been kind to you,
And that your escape is
Permanent, not weekly.

Melancholy but hopeful, a humanity in these ponderings, an understanding that tingles to the primal bone...I love how you explore those corners so many run from, peace n poems to u, friend xoxox
