March 4 - Self-Portrait by Jason WardellPalette of scar pink,
off-white and red,
grey-black swirl
around the eyes,
through the hair:
time-darkening.

Once sketched,
roughen the edges,
add tension in the jaw,
mouth closed,
eyebrows raised
to invoke pity,

It's a deeper kind of tired
as one who sleeps but never
rests.
He craves extinction at his
darkest but he continues on
