March 1 - Collapsar

by Jason Wardell

We knew if we waited long enough, the change would come
and then the day did comeā€”and at last.

- The Mountain Goats, "Collapsing Stars"

Hypernova, baby.

You million-point
gamma-luminous
plasma crucifixion.

Photonic pinpricks
bullet wounds,
cordial invitations
to the impending
extinction event.

We implode and
we disappear but
at least we see it coming.

I am forever disappeared. Past tense, indeed. It's no longer an act, it is the ending.
