tree of knowledge by Angela Thomasit has been too long since a man
sat on the barstool next to me
and created a pain under my eyes,
a sore ache from smiling, laughing
so much in such a short time. hands
finding their way to each other, lips
crossing the line. he crawled into
my arms and called me 'beautiful'
softly when i woke up. i spent
the next day thinking about those
hands, two different colored eyes,
a pool of blue that couldn't stay out
if it wanted. i don't know how to keep
him off my mind. but i feel like i must,
this is forbidden fruit. and the tree
bends it's branch for me to reach. 02/26/2011 Posted on 02/27/2011 Copyright © 2025 Angela Thomas

| Posted by Anita Mac on 02/28/11 at 01:48 AM I have come to hate that point at the end. lol It just seems so pathetic to try not to think about someone. Excellent piece, and glad you got to smile a bit. |
| Posted by Julie Adams on 02/28/11 at 05:55 AM the first 3 stanzas are pure poetic imagery and depth, could easily stand alone, but the final stanza does offer a consciousness that affords the writer a bravery without ignorance or the need for sympathy. Kudos, a pleasure, peace n poems, jewels |
