Winter Resurrection by Mark Maxey
Solid inanimate cocoon that I had been
Years of comfortably being numb
Curled up as a baby in my hibernation den
Figuring my life’s worth sum
I awake by gentle frozen water being painted
Upon my horizon and my life
The snow fall reminds me of heaven’s tears
Stinging shivering damp droplets soothe my soul
Awaiting my stretching that hid from my fears
Words said long ago from a prophet had been told
These words are now my nourishment for resurrection
My naked body is covered in this blanket of white snow
The coffin had been carried slowly through many miles
Twisted gnarled paths of asphalt led the way
Upwards to the mountains where oxygen is thinner
Mystical awakenings brought back the dead
In the stillness of the silence
A lil brown rabbit with a white bunny tail
Nibbles on the single strand of grass
Slowly my crusted eyes regain their sight
Come winter resurrection and change me
Awaken me to my dreams…to my knowingness
Let the heavens tears melt away my fears
My spring is just a few weeks away
I awake by gentle frozen water being painted
Upon my horizon and my life
