Sweet Salvation by Ken HarnischYou’d have to want me
In your arms. You know me
Too well to know I could
Never resist such an invitation.
You’d have to want me to come
Suspending judgments on my motives
Or supposed decrepitude. The good news
Is I can still dance, standing or lying beside you
My arms can still encircle you
And my lips graze your hair with
Sympathetic caresses. I can still
Float the words that would carry
Into your heart, no matter how
Long ago you heard them last.
This coyness, lady, is no crime
But it does deter us from knowing
The end which, however brief,
Cannot be wrong if it brings us,
For that time, sweet salvation

Posted by V. Blake on 02/11/11 at 02:17 AM ""Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to." --Jim Jarmusch |
