Weathered

by Johnny Crimson

They found a space between the snow banks
where two creatures made their way
and every click and scratch of denim teeth
was silenced by the rain.

Josh pulls the compass from the rubble
and dusts away the heavy earth
cos what's revealed here's not direction
just a keepsake well deserved.

There's a choppy tension brewing
deep beneath her ocean floor
that floods over through that fleshy cave
only to wash up on his shores.

The two entangled in the fever
of a second-hand embrace
dart their tongues like rabid serpents
their brain stems drowning in the haze.

Much praise to the detectives
in their calm and quiet skin
for the sights they found in solace
left their demons in a cringe.

The vibrant twigs and hollow oak trees
hang so high and low below
as their bodies left the atmosphere
they left their spirits in the snow.

I like the concept of "Choppy tension." This piece is full of great lines and ideas like that.

Heavy and secretive.

Nobody does it like you, Johnny. Thanks for another lovely stumble through the shadows.

This is a new favorite for me... I'm kicking myself for disappearing.
