Snow

by Richard Vince

Behind the glasses of a woman
Shine the excited eyes of a child
Waiting for another night’s snowfall.

While I worry silently about
How I will get to work in the morning,
She talks in tones of wonder about
The silent white blanket she awaits.

The ice under my feet will make me
Wonder where I can tread, but
The wonder in her eyes makes them
Sparkle like the frosted pavements.

I enjoy the beauty the snow brings,
But I cannot relax while it
Lies upon the ground. I care more
About my routine, but there is
Little beauty in that.

I wish I could appreciate all this
Properly, but for now I think I will
Have to leave that to her.

As always, I love the simple honesty. Beautiful!
