Cassandra, or, She'll kill us both you know by Sophia GraceIn the first dream the sails are still -
we have lost the wind and he is coming,
bloodstained and coming for me
Yes! He is coming
Coming with fire
with fire and water
and water and the roar of hooves
and always there is the looming spectre of the night Mare,
men and fire pouring from its' belly
Come to burn and destroy and
the city and the women will be torn asunder
And when he has come and gone
she will kill him too -
How can I make you understand?
We are on the edge, there is nothing
but silence and the ever-present flames
and what I see I cannot tell you. This
vast emptiness looms between my
vision and my voice.
Dreaming, the last -
The city burns, it burns as bright as a God
as bright as a God and his revenge
and the sea and the horses are quiet now,
the sails flicker gently as the waves lap against
the bow and one day they will crumble as the
stone fortress crumbled
But for now it is him & me and she will kill us both -
one with water, one with fire
and the city is avenged. 01/29/2011 Author's Note: I like to think that Clytemnestra burned the palace down.

Posted by James Cavet on 02/02/11 at 04:52 AM I think the ideas here have interesting potential. Especially this line, I like very much: The city burns, it burns as bright as a God as bright as a God and his revenge.
I definitely feel this lonely burning place you write about when I read it. |
