Don't Even Dare by Susan Q TomasIf you follow me, hunt me down like a dog,
Try and capture me . . . I will bite you.
I am not yours.
I belong to no man.
I don't even belong to myself.
Love is patient and kind.
It does not cage.
It is not hostile.
If I fear you I can not love you.
01/25/2011 Author's Note: Just venting intensity.

Posted by Rob Littler on 07/06/13 at 04:10 PM On my first read I hit "hunt me down like a dog" and my mind read "hunt me down like a dog would hunt" So I was left at the end thinking about the interplay of wanting to love something you have to tenderly chase, knowing capture is not the goal. A dog hunts by instinct, training. This dog would not bite, just point. Barking is worse than the bite, trust me I know. Being a Dog. Still I was glad to catch this as the POTD. |
