#28 - I see you, moon-faced man

by Linda Fuller

I see you, moon-faced man
I see you rise above the shadow clefted hills
to cast cold light upon the cooling land
to look upon the creatures of the dark
to watch as predator and prey embark
on their nocturnal games of hide and seek,
the give and take of blood. I fear the meek
will capture naught in this exchange
save pain and death. You do not think of this
or harbor any thought at all behind
your stony face, composed of seas and craters
beaming down upon our moonstruck race.
