Initiate (W/ Johnny Crimson)

by Anita Mac

If I said
I was only here for
A little bit of comfort,
Would you make me
Eat it forever?

Face down I would,
separating teeth and tongue
from compliments.

Ever-erasing the masks you draw in that notebook,
knowing the simplest fits we best,
I'm here, reich like,
waiting for orders
and a final solution.

Then I'll forget to mention it
and eat my way around you,
even as your salt lingers in my throat.
There are bigger, better things than this,
but I'll trust you not to ask
before the world has moved on.

To share the gift in silence
begs more questions
than I'm seeking answers to.

In another thirty minutes
the coroners report shall write itself
as gummy lips
are twisted in the direction of the fog,
followed by short,
blunt smacks to the forehead.
Do forgive my knife and new religion,
God's inside you, he must come out.

You wear melodrama
like indecent truths
boiling to the surface with a long-repressed fury.

If God is in me, it's also in you;
my days of bleeding for Heaven are over.

Author's Note: My first time working w/ Johnny, and it was definitely an experience-- a good one. Hopefully we'll get to do another sometime, since he's fairly brilliant and this was a great write for me.

He's a fun sparring partner to be sure, and I'm not at all surprised that you two were able to kick ass in every possible direction.
