running by Stuart Shiltonits not you, its me
culturally cliche, accurate
i am the onioln, many layers waiting
to be peeled. elusive
what would freud say.
my emotional mistrust leading to
my emotional distance. why do i run?
why from you? my head says
yes my heart says love but
my feet say run. my mind
floods with regret every night for
the words not said. the actions not
shown, for my heart and its
loss in the fight against my feet
the shoes are worn with holes
in the toes, the marathons run
and the miles travelled only take
their toll on hte shoes because
i am only fitter, only more
capable of running, of escaping
the intimacy that my heart requires.
God will you break
my foot that i may run
