hotel

by Steven Kenworthy

so i’ve been sleeping wide awake in this plaster cave
it’s dark and you never stay when you say
you’ll stay.
you’ll watch me blinking satellites in the white tent
scares the life out of me. it’s quiet streams this bed
wakes up with me everyway.
my fossil collection crying back to me

i’ll never ever leave this is a different way of saying the same sentence
i used to say with romance

the dry petals only want us to be alone
would you take the time to just dance for me
i’m just across the street
won’t you cross the street
and simply dance for me
i’ll never ever leave this is a different way of saying the same sentence
i used to say with romance

it’s getting more like yesterday today is always exactly the same
i’m sleeping wide awake in this plaster cave
this isn’t the city or state for me
but i’ll never ever leave
i’ll never ever leave

won’t you cross the street
dance for me?
motion home sickness
cover me in your hospital sheets
dance inside of plain white sheets
say you’ll never ever leave
you never stay with me.

Your poems always have such a unique feel to them. They often make me hopeful and doubtful at the same time! How do you do that? :D

I never tire of reading you, something in the flow, the thought arcs, the repetition...a pleasure as always, peace, jewels
