Twist

by Aaron Blair

As a child, I learned how to love,
and who. A curved spine is grown
with no rod to teach it how to be straight,
and, god, how I wanted you,
no matter the bend of the angles,
the way it hurt to twist myself
into a shape that could better shelter
your persistent suckling need.

I love the style in this. The opening lines are just perfect.
