Voicemail by Aaron BlairI can't help but ask myself
if maybe the reason why I call
and never leave messages
is just so I can hear your voice
without the risk of disappointment.
In a world with no conversation,
you'll never tell me you don't love me.
I'll never give you advice that you won't take.
I won't wear my heart on my sleeve,
so you can't crush it when you reach out
to grab my wrist and push me away.
You snipped the wings off a flightless bird.
Now it hurts to even dream of the sky. 01/14/2011 Author's Note: I hate leaving voicemail. I know he's not going to call me back.

| Posted by James Blaylock on 03/21/11 at 10:41 PM As people we find it ever so easy to do our best hiding behind an unanswered phone. And iffen we so choose to leave a simple message - we might just say a little too much. So instead we listen to the voice of that familiar someone saying, "I'll call you back." But that is neither here nor there, EVER. And still we grow further apart. |
| Posted by Charlie Morgan on 03/26/11 at 12:35 PM ...aaron, good write, and i [ever once in a while i am needful to "contact" whomever]; like, james says...we keep inventing things that allow us to hide...you know what i hate is to have to hear falsity, or the dissapointment that it's not who THEY wanted. sheesh!! good tool, just over used and wrongly used...a cool write. |
