...And HERE I Sit

by Joan Serratelli

And here I sit
waiting for THE CALL

The test was wrong
it's not uncommon
I looked it up

Tell me that
it will be alright
I NEED to hear those
words

She has been through hell
and came back
This cannot happen;
not to her

I sounded calm
I wanted to cry
but for her sake;
I held it together

Tell me it'll
be ok
Tell me that
it was a mistake

Nevermind me
I would gladly
give my life
to save her

It never ends
A mother's prays
and sits
...and waits

Mother's seem to suffer the problem of invisibility and an incredible deficit of self- esteem, it all seems to come with the territory. Mothers are hope.
