the pasture of the sky by Jared FladelandThe last place I want to be
is overlooking a pasture with the stars up above,
the green serpents of the Northern Lights
doing battle with the cosmos of love.
I want you by my side
with rich brown eyes glowing bright.
we will count the infinity above our head
and feel the weight of heaven's light.
I cannot wait for this moment
even if in this life it is our last,
because I know afterwards we'll join
the dead, our waiting ancestors now past.
They'll bathe us in the sea,
wrap our scarred hearts with love,
and take us away to become what is
in the pasture of the sky above. 01/10/2011 Author's Note: To my muse

| Posted by Laurie Blum on 01/11/11 at 02:12 PM Beautiful! This puts me in mind of a gorgeous clear night in ND! So many stars and the aurora borealis competing with the warmth of love. Just the kind of poetry I really like! |
