the days last cigarette

that even glass bends light
smoke rises and rain falls
laws of the heavens and the earth
men fall like rain putting out
fires only to rise again as smoke
twisting to the heavens like
some exotic dancer
we are only done when the smoke leaks out
to the heavens without its human load
once the fires burnt and the
smoke has risen
