#1 - New Year's Baby

by Linda Fuller

The new year came home from the hospital today.
Its face is all red and squashed looking -
I’m afraid I won’t be able to love it,
and it’s not getting anywhere near my nipples.

Author's Note: I'm already regretting the Poem-a-Day January 2011 challenge I made to myself.

HA! This is great Linda. And the challenge...as challenging as it may be or become...will be very rewarding. I decided on my last BD (February 16th) to photo journal my next year of life. I have taken a photo a day for the last 10 months. I will be glad when my next BD gets here. LOL!!! Funny write. I look forward to whatever else January will bring you. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Don't regret the piece. These are your feelings at the moment. Take it slow- it gets easier.

Don't regret your personal commitment, just keep writing lovely poems like this [which I know, of course, makes it difficult]
