I Fell In Love with an Avatar

by Lori St. George

I fell in love with
an Avatar,
a ghost star.
We moved
at the speed of light.
We ripped each other apart
byte by bloody byte.

Our hearts were hellbent
with lightening.
We crashed our codes
into nothing.
We were pioneers
riding dark dreams.
Chasing high beams.
Crossing binary streams
With kisses.

I fell in love with
an Avatar,
a ghost star.
Too late,
to gut you from the mainframe.
Too late,
to slice your name out of my brain.
Cuz it's locked and loaded
A JavaScript explosion.
Damn the humiliation.
Your retribution.
My annihilation.

Loving
an Avatar
is futile.
But then again,
Loving blind,
is always brutal.

Thank you - I can now admit that I too have fallen in love with avatars (and I'm talking the little Yahoo cartoon guys) - pathetic! (me, not you). Clever, enjoyable poem.

Well said in every single damn line. I'm especially taken with that last stanza.

That third stanza is SupahChocolate and the whole write resonates!
