Innocence Lost

by Mark Maxey

Alleys of shame hidden away
Among the dirt and grime
Her head lies upon a cardboard box
Standing guard her angel with a sword

Innocence lost but not forgotten
Alone and dejected her cries are heard
But people walk on by
Almost to ignore
No more…no more
Her cries will be heard

Thrown to the wolves for a meal
A trick or two for dad’s dime bag
In the corner is her angel
Taking notes and planning revenge

Innocence lost but not forgotten
Alone and dejected her cries are heard
But people walk on by
Almost to ignore
No more…no more
Her cries will be heard

Fifteen or twenty no one knows
Inside she feels old
We will stand up for her
We will stop the war
No more no more
It has to be over

Innocence lost but not forgotten
Alone and dejected her cries are heard
But people walk on by
Almost to ignore
No more…no more
Her cries will be heard

...mark you amplify here inner screams, lovely in discourse of a sad fate/life. as we are a little of each-other.
