N.S.F.

by Nanette Bellman

till i'm blue in the face
i could argue
that i was under some sort of cast spell
or that i was addicted to your words,
mesmerized and feining.
all functionality ceased with out your presence.
either way, it doesn't matter.

i wish i could tell the stories
and skip the constantants and vowels of your name.

(because there are just some things you're not worthy of...
you never were...)

let my life be a mad lib
and allow myself to improvise the verbs and the nouns
but more importantly,
who you really are from who i wanted you to be.

but let's face it,
the only thing i've ever been good at writing
is bad checks to everyone
for your broken promises.

well today...
i've got money in the bank.

Finally! The raw, biting, bitch-slap of your words has returned! I like this. I like the mad lib stanza. I like the idea behind it. I think your rusty is better than most of the things I read.

"who you really are from who i wanted you to be" It always seems to come down to that, can't even fully blame the other person properly. This a fantastic piece, I'm glad you're back. ;o)
