for christmas, i want you to show up at the airport
with a blue bow covering your heart.


i want you to say,
"i came all this way to give you my heart"
and i want you to mean it,
i want your breath to feel heavy when those words escape.


i want us to laugh like we do on the phone,
feeling warm inside our cold beds and realizing how cheesy it sounds;


i will trace the letter S in your hand
and kiss everything away.
