Can I expect you to believe in God by Timothy SomersWithout needs, large,
nor issues small,
detached as you are,
sitting on the curb of marginality
avoiding the discourse,
content in your inattention
You refer to the suburbs as “le Mer”
and remark slightly at the constant,
consistent drowning of it its occupants
in waves of excess.
You comment on the squirrels having
more purpose,
being more productive,
and dressed far more appropriately
for the season.
The message you wrote in the dust
on the dining room table
is left incomplete,
and smacks of cummings
with its capitalization lacking. 12/17/2010 Posted on 12/18/2010 Copyright © 2025 Timothy Somers

Posted by A. Paige White on 03/10/13 at 10:50 PM I adore this! And you posted (penned?) it on my birthday a few years ago. Hate I missed it then. Congratulations on POTD! You've gotten me hungry for ee cummings now... |
