Three Eternal

by Johnny Crimson

We asked if god had painted
the silent starry night
and with guns and knives they answered back.
I guess the silent part was right.

These empty giants that we hide inside
will be searched from head to neck.
I keep my wife and kid in the feet below
where they're sure to never check.

Yet of me I'm on that journey
to the place of blood black snow,
where the screams are muffled with bullets
and the smoke's part of the show.

Then they line me up with good ideas
you know it's just weeding out the weak,
"for work, for work you must" they say
for work shall set you free.

I heard the growling of those death hounds,
their teeth stained with our dye,
as they dug into another one,
but left open her eyes.

I hear the tanks rolling closer
but I've lost the will to feel.
Its far too much to think of worth
when you're jealous of killing fields.

On the day of their arrival,
a soldier stared into my eyes,
and I stared back at his foreign face
where from my mouth then, came the flies.

For a day late they had been for me
but fear not, I am free.
They'd burned my wife and kid you see,
and now they're here with me.

That ending isn't going to leave me anytime soon. Wow. Lyrical in the best way possible and brutal right down to the end.
