cherubs

by Lauren Singer

deft boy,
i will be your synchronized swimmer.
i will direct the motion of your need
and i will
take care of you.

i make lists and illustrations
to remember all the ways you taste.
i will put up with all your creepy friends
just to wrestle in your twin sized bed with the door open.

just start out slow,
take the wheel for awhile.

i want to lay down.
i want you to know where i'm
going with this.

disheveled boy,
take me somewhere secret.
let's be rebel children and never get old.

The language and style in this are very gripping for what's a pretty simple layout. Amazing what a good writer can do with the deceptively basic. Wonderful write. I really loved the first stanza.
