all the lieing

by Charlie Morgan

i read til my eyes bled;
it was so sad, a girl
and all those guys;
hopscotching with each's heart.

you'd think one would be the wiser,
but next page: same lamentations.
woe casts its net at her feet,
while worthlessness drowns him.

and their fingers hurt
from carrying each other's
projected pain and suffering;
drop it off with the laundry.

lieing eyes lead to lieing hearts;
and sail at the sunrise of our youth,
return as the ocean swallows the sun.

And there sing the praises of singledom when wisdom fails.
