Your Eyes

by Ymelda Ramirez

Your eyes say so much,
when your lips speak so little.
Your eyes scream I love you
with each passing glance.
Your eyes tell me that you miss me
when I am not around.
Your eyes show your lust for me
with every sly smile.
Your eyes lie to me when you
say that you don't care.
Your eyes pretend they are not interested
whenever he is near.
Your eyes yell out in agony
when he pulls me close.
Your eyes are disappointed
each time that I complain.
Your eyes can feel my heartbreak,
while mine soak in tears.
Your eyes nurture me each time
you mend my broken heart.
Your eyes support me when I feel weak
and your strength pulls me through.
Your eyes inspire me
each time you take a breath.

It’s your eyes I want to look into each morning that I rise.
Hesitation takes over me because

Your eyes can see deep into my soul.
Your eyes can rip open my heart and turn it inside out.
Your eyes can destroy the woman I have become.

It’s your eyes that deceive me.
