Never alone...

by Ymelda Ramirez

She sits alone in the corner of the room.
But is she really alone?
She hovers over her phone with a beer in her hand.
Her hands seem to be going crazy as she begins to type into her phone
To others she may seem lonely.
She's ignoring the crowd,
Not participating in the drunken madness that surrounds her.
But, alone she is not, her thoughts keep her company.
Her words are her solace.
The DJ continues to play mindless dribble.
Mindless music with no emotion and no feeling,
The music doesn’t flow.
She rocks to the beat, but she is occupied.
She’s creating the masterpiece that lies before your eyes.
She knows that she's an outcast, but that makes her smile.
She's never been one to follow the crowd, why start now?
At times it’s fun to play the game.
All the while, she knows where her true emotions lie.
The game will come to an end though and
Eventually, she will grow tired and retreat to the comfort of her home.
There again she will seem alone, but her thoughts are faithful.
They will constantly surround her until she opens up and lets them out.
