For The Best

by J. P. Davies

I've broken more than once
the glass of romance past
to put out current fires
to stop the raining ash

in the rear-view of life
emergency lights reveal
the arson stricken bridges
the hearts we try to steal

I've traced the scars
that our daggers carved
to put this all to rest

to seperate
what we conflagrate
from what we say
was for the best

This is really a very fine write. And I've said that once because I knew I'd never be able to make her happy. And now there is another who I've made happy, sad, and angry over and over again. We still struggle through each day for at some point there really is no where else to go.
