I Looked To You

by Rebecca Bowen

I looked to you for help,
I looked to you for friendship.
I looked to you for anything,
Just like you told me.
But when you look at me,
What do you see?
I'm tired of being second best,
Never good enough.
I built myself up all alone,
And single handedly,
You broke me down.
One person to make,
One person to destroy.
The only one to make me want more.
I looked to you for everything,
I didn't expect this to happen.
I didn't expect us to become strained.
I looked to you for love.
I looked to you to hold my heart,
But then I found out what love stands for to you:
L- legs
O- open
V- very
E- easy
Why didn't I know all this before?
Now I do feel like a whore.
Was I just a toy?
Was this some plot to get back at someonelse?
How can I ever forget what happened?
-I can't forget,
No matter how hard I'll try,
You'll always have something over me.
It's so hard to explain,
But why did I let you cause all this pain?
I looked to you for my everything,
My whole entire world you once held,
But worst of all,
I'll still look to you.

Author's Note: I didn't look up to someone, but I did/still do look to someone for help and advice in life. I just wish things didn't go as they did.
