life lesson

by Charlie Morgan

months of fluvia explode into bright lights;
a flight begins as he taxis to the uterus,
then greets flourescence; white, shiny, cold.

his life-cord cut so he can now breathe;
his mom's been in labor. his has begun.
from pre-K to a bullet, his pendulum.

first letters, first numbers, first toy.
the learning-life is filled with giggles;
the later-life filled with death.

he learns to manipulate his mom, dad,
numbers, words, other people. death.
unless he gets the lessons mixed.

From zero to whenever we never know when it will come to us. But death does come to us all. So it's what we make of it from zero to.... Thanks for reminding us Charlie.

I like this very much. The last line is particularly smart, and painfully true.
