Younger Love

by Nikki Benson

I can’t remember the first time
You flashed happiness across your face and changed my life forever
At least for now
I’m not meant to be happy
You can’t possibly be the one for me
You have so much more life to live
Give me any indication
I’ll cut and run
I’ve had my shoes ready
But in the meantime
I drink in the sight of your face
The most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen
Your face is a gift to the human eye
Your smile a gift to my soul
My soul that is so thirsty for happiness
In a glimpse I have it
In a glimpse it’ll be taken away
Until then
I love you
