British Budget Cuts

by Drew May

Quiet please,
winds in your voice rattle the single panes of glass
that mirror the illusion, you’ll be stronger as a whole
when more of you are unemployed, don’t rock
the boat.

Be patient,
the frozen tundra of our budgets will guide your
neighbours to higher profit, the gun of commerce
is loaded and ready, you can’t rock
the boat.

Sit down,
this bus stops for no individual, rainbow tufts of
hair don’t homogenize with our views, predetermined
stops serve none of your purposes, we forbid you rock
the boat.

Shut your filthy mouths,
how dare you be entitled to mountains, mountains which
we built from your labour, a toothless grin will make you
bear it, we won’t laugh, honest, and you won’t rock
the boat.

~

We won’t accept this rubbish,
We won’t take this pain,
Who are you to serve us suffering
and tell us who to blame?
We built this country with our sweat,
our taxes, blood, and shame,
We are not pawns who will be told
to toil in your games

Fuck
your
boat.
