Dinner for no one

by Curtis Sethaler

I think I’ll start this off
With a plate of something melancholy
And I’d like a second helping
Of what ever made her smile
And Please hold that table
Near foreshadowing and deep sarcasm
I’ll be back at noon tomorrow
Maybe she’ll show up on time

Second rate and second place
It never fun to lose
I saw you in the paper
Yeah you are such big news
I’m still holding that table
So we can talk about what really matters
I’ll paint myself in rainbows
So you know that my word is good

And hours turn to days
And I’m still counting down the minutes
Lost in space and time
I’m laying on my bed
I still have your picture
It is Hanging in the middle
Of my dartboard....

I like this. Free yourself from the bondage of memory - go find new ones!
