Dissonant Lullaby

by Tota Longmire

I can’t sleep to this
Dissonant lullaby where
The most important parts
Are whispered and the
Minor details screamed.
My heart aches with the
Resonance of what we
Were and my head hurts
With the flat and sharp
Notes of what we’ve become.
The lullaby that was once life
Is fragmented, and now, so
Are my dreams.
