Speaking ill of the dead by Laura DoomHaving spent half my life
in therapy, and most of the remainder
in toilets decorated by varying degrees
of sanitation, I've come to the conclusion
that introspection doesn't have a whole
lot going for it.
Hollow life and passive death, what might have been
a perfect circle, now a spiral of corruption
shaped by Fibonacci's toolset from hell
So, when I'm unseasonably depressed
I spend some time with my mother.
The world appears infinitely more
meaningful in the days that follow.
Last week was a fully loaded
case in point, the usual conversation
by mutual interrogation; why do I look
so much younger than she does?
Her insight isn't too good these days
particularly since social services stopped
issuing 3-D glasses to the terminally paranoid
Why did she not strangle me at birth?
This time I got a sensible answer:
arthritis, high blood pressure
and a morbid aversion to pleasure.
If only it were that complex...
she still believes we're the last
two house mates in Reality Afterlife
We parted on good, legally binding terms.
Every day since, she's left messages
on my ansafone, begging me
not to contact her again.10/13/2010 Posted on 10/13/2010 Copyright © 2024 Laura Doom

Posted by V. Blake on 10/13/10 at 10:48 PM About damn time you shared something new with us, Laura. I have missed your poems. Not to say that this wasn't worth waiting for. "a perfect circle, now a spiral of corruption
shaped by Fibonacci's toolset from hell." Just awesome. |
Posted by Therese Elaine on 10/13/10 at 11:23 PM There's just no pleasing some people, the sense of mutual dread at the thought of facing the real life expression of the cause/affect theory of chaos, causes regressive postpartum passive-aggressive tendencies in even the most balanced of the terminally-on-shaky-ground citizens... you're damned if you do -and let's not even think about if you don't... |
Posted by Anita Mac on 10/14/10 at 03:02 AM Heh... Yes, well worth the wait. Insight... clever, per usual. I'm a fan of introspection, if only as a form of avoidance. ;o) |
