West of Grouse Creek (revision II)

by Leonard M Hawkes

this bony earth
ribs worn bare—
thin skinned
creative forces
still so evident—
no wonder we tend
toward faith
in the West—
protecting our
meager holdings—
eking out
an existence
literally with
our sweat—
so aware of
the hot prickly
reality of Hell.

I would so love to walk in your shoes just one time. Nice write!

Great write, man. The sharp visuals in this are just relentless.
