truth by Jeffrey Parrensometimes you get it
sometimes you don't
and other times it takes on different forms like a run on sentence
when all you hear is the bull
but that run around is
throwing the truth
throwing you for a loop
all you can do is throw your hands up
and wonder “what the hell do I do now?”
the truth can seem to be an apparition
haunting you with a hazy guilt
swimming in the top left corner
of a random photo you shot
like a ghost of your past
it haunts you
like all the other memories
you wish would go away.
memories are photos.
photos are memories.
the sense of the truth
varies from person to person
and the absolute truth
is that tree in the forest
where no one is there to hear
it may exist but is anyone certain of it?
I can call you out on your bull
and you can swear of that fallacy
a double negative is positive to you
but I hear what you aren't saying
as you convince me with
that deep stare into my eyes
that's my lie detector
but what if you don't even notice
then you are telling the truth
of something you have no control over
no possible memory of something
you think you don't do?
truth is a phantom
and it only knows itself.
I have sworn up and down
the sky was red
in the middle of the day
when it was actually blue
to you
but purple to her
so where does the truth reside?
a middle ground of agreement
where the two circles of acknowledgment
meet yet the possibility is
that neither
that no one
will ever know
the true truth
(2 positives are one positive total)
so can it exist
if no one is there
to discover it?
does truth exist?
we are all the judges
the jury is out
whether one or all
the truth is
a 5am fog over abandoned ground
truly unexplainable yet there.
