Carolina Rain

by Steve Michaels

Cold creeps in under a deceptively blue sky as
the sadness drenches my body like an unforgiving rain

sweeps the mundane off my chest
past my toes and
leaves me staring
at a naked semblance of
who I once
was.

I no longer stop to think
but move
toward an uncompromising
god

like the half-smoked cigarettes
riddled about my patio
the questions
still smolder

I look up
and hope for the best.

"like the unsmoked cigarettes riddled about my patio the questions still smolder" Quite awesome, Steve. Welcome to Pathetic!

Vince stole my favourite line comment...nevertheless, it bears repeating -you've got some really creative imagery here and I look forward to seeing what else you share with us! Welcome to Pathetic!

I can see a pretty vivid scenario here...I think everyone has at least one of those days where you pace around and look at your eyes in the mirror trying to find the person you once were or were supposed to be? I dunno. Long story short, I feel ya brother lol
