As It Would Seem

by Joe Cramer

Strong waves crashed against the shore
bringing the tide in closer, once more.
Early evening calls at end of day
as beachcombers depart, on their way.

Now that the hot day has but ended
while long shadows fall once more.
The tide washes away scrawled sand, blended
into what will once again be ocean floor.

Stronger waves crash as they dance
upon the dying sands as if in a dream.
No more is left ashore, left to chance
and all is not still, as it would seem.
