To Be Me

by Deborah Breuer

You make me feel like me.
A me unparalleled to any version of me prior to you
You make me feel beautiful.
A Mona Lisa in our own time with you as DaVinci
I’m a better version of myself around you.
More inept to painting a façade version of who society wants me to be.
Blood pumps through my veins laced with infatuation and inspiration
Taking me to a higher place,
Closer to the gods, where you’d say I’m among my own kind.
But I belong along side you.
You who makes it passable to be me.

"A me unparalleled to any version of me prior to you" That was awesome. Well done.
