the need to know by Vikki Owensis it easy for you to love?
you've been in and out,
around and about,
failed relationships
and fucked up women,
have you taken another on?
do i love you?
i need to know...
why do i still compare you
to those who came before,
when your hand presses against mine,
who is pressing who?
am i following you
because you treat me well?
because you wrangle me better than
anyone who came before?
when you are silent,
do you think of me,
or do you think of bedding me?
is the clock on your life counting down,
and you've slipped into panic mode
over the settling down you think you should
have committed to by now?
am i the one?
do you love me?
i need to know...
those who came before
threw the word love around,
and now its become
an abstract thought to me,
what is love, because i dont believe i've ever seen it.
is love the food you cook for me,
the calls you make to me,
the bed you make for me,
the tucking in?
he tucked me in as well,
and kissed me goodnight,
and left.
will you leave?
i need to know...
i feel disposable
and i cant trust
that love is just a word you use
when you want someone to stay
for a while,
to use
and then discard.
love, like a hook to bind,
then break
ripping seams, seamlessly
moving from
i love you,
to
get out. 09/21/2010 Posted on 09/21/2010 Copyright © 2026 Vikki Owens
