Seven Years, part 2: Louisa

by Richard Vince

Her face looks almost the same
As I remember it: impossibly dark
Brown eyes and impossibly smooth
Olive skin, framed by the same dark hair.

Only her lower eyelids reveal that
She is no longer the ever smiling
Teenager from whom prepubescent me
Could not turn whenever she was
On the screen.

Will I be the same, seven years from now?
The same as I am now, unless you look
Closely? Or will people remember
That a lot can happen in seven years,
No matter how things may appear?
