Moments of silence
have gotten an unfair
hand dealt.

If someone passes
or to pay homage to those
serving our country
currently or lost
we give
a moment of silence.

In church
there are moments of silence
to pray for the ill,
good
yes
but because of something
bad.

What about all those
moments of silence
not asked for
not urged upon others?

That moment
you realize this is the person
you want to marry.

That moment
your first child is born
where the whole room
is standing round
with breath held.

That moment
you realize a goal.

There are so many
tiny moments in life
where silence is not only necessary
it is the only way.

Can you imagine a day
where each moment
brought you
another silence?

I cannot
but I can dream can't I?
