Beauty and Evil by Jeffrey ParrenInstead of
hopping in the shower
and getting ready in time
to catch the next bus
I decide to sit here
and type this
next to a quiet box fan
white
which constantly runs
to draw in the breeze
from the open windows
of this lovely September
afternoon.
The television is off
and the only sounds
audible
are that of the cars outside
passing
going somewhere
to do something
and my fingers
dancing on these keys
with creative endeavors.
All days should be like this.
The quiet so loud
that my thoughts
have not invaded me yet
ruining my sense of self
messing up
this perfectly beautiful day.
Sometimes your worst enemy
is sitting in the same chair as you
and this is in my case for sure.
Evil wears a red dress.
Evil can deceive
and change appearances.
Evil can reside in your soul
and never go away,
and sometimes,
can hide in the shadows of you
and sneak up
when you least expect it. 09/20/2010 Posted on 09/20/2010 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren
